A bit of a change in the day job has meant that I’ve now essentially lost 2 hours of my day driving, this has meant I’ve had to rethink my workouts and also try and work in some shorter times for working out. I’m not one for doing video workouts in the front room, generally because I’m too big to be throwing myself around the front room and also because the wife comes and laughs at me for entertainment. But I needed to have something to do at home and I figured that an exercise bike was probably the way to go.
After having a browse around I started to settle on this IC300. I wanted a spinning style bike but I was worried about the quality is sturdy enough for a nearly 100kg bloke to be used, granted I have carpets but I still didn’t fancy having a bike land on me too.
At £149.99 it was about as much as I wanted to go for spending especially if I didn’t get on with it. There is much more expensive stuff on the market but I figured if I start getting this into my routine then I’ll upgrade if this isn’t up to the job.
I ordered and got the bike within a couple of days with no hassle. The delivery guy was great and helped my wife get it into the right room as it was heavy. Setting up was really simple and was ready to go shortly after unboxing.
I’m writing this review after about 6 weeks and I’m massively impressed with the quality of it. In terms of build quality it feels safe, it’s maybe lacking a little finish if I compare it to the spinning bikes that are 10 times the price, but that isn’t a complaint it’s just a fact of what you are paying for comes with a certain level of quality. The only thing I find annoying is the drivetrain itself is a bit noisy, that isn’t the flywheel but the actual chain side of things is a tad noisy, this is only a hindrance if you’re trying to watch the last season of The Walking Dead when biking like I’ve been doing.
The onboard readouts are just as good as the stuff you get at the gym including heart rate measuring. I don’t really use much of it myself as i have my fitbit but no complaints on also seeing times and trip reading, you don’t get that on the spinning bikes at the gym!
Overall i think combining price with quality you can’t really get close to it. A really well put together piece of kit, no it doesn’t fold down but frankly i don’t want to be putting full power through a bike that does fold down. I highly recommend this to people if you have somewhere to put it.
